TSANet hosted an online workshop to look at how to improve collaboration between Vendors and Hyperscalers on Feb 7th, 2023. Hyperscalers that provide private and public cloud services are critical to the digital transformation of enterprise customers. Customers expect Hyperscalers and Vendors to work together to fully support the solutions they need. The workshop started by looking at an example Microsoft Azure – Red Hat Open Shift solution that Red Hat and Microsoft jointly engineer, manage, and support. Improving collaboration between Vendors and Hyperscalers was identified by the TSANet Board of Directors during the strategy process, and it was highlighted again by the TSANet Connect 2.0 Technology Committee as part of the 2023 plans.
This workshop was facilitated by Phil Verghis at Klever Insight. It included experts from Dell, Red Hat, Microsoft, UIPath, Actian, Cisco, Cloud Software Group, IBM, NetApp, Nutanix, VMware, Google, F5, Pure Storage, HPE, Palo Alto Networks, and Silk.
Why is collaboration between Vendors and Hyperscalers a TSANet priority?
In 1993 Technology Vendors came together to create TSANet as a not-for-profit vendor-neutral industry alliance to improve multi vendor support. The creation of the TSANet common Legal and Operational Framework allowed Members to scale their multi-vendor collaboration process.
Over the last 30 years, multi vendor support has been improved and optimized through TSANet with feedback from our Members. The most recent Member feedback showed the requirements for collaboration are different for Vendors and Cloud Providers. Bringing the Vendors and Hyperscalers together for a workshop was the best way to define the unique requirements in this area.
Workshop Output
26 Participants created 236 Ideas, 140 Comments, 223 Votes, and the word cloud below. By all measures, the workshop was a success, and the level of participation reflects the importance of this topic.
Some of the top priority areas defined were:
- Integrated Tools: The functionality that TSANet is creating with TSANet Connect 2.0 is aligned with the requirements defined in this workshop.
- Legal: Requirements for collaboration include new areas such as certification and data protection and will require discussions with Hyperscaler legal to find ways to optimize this area.
- Teams: The culture of collaboration must be in place with both Vendors and Hyperscalers. This workshop was a great start to building that cooperation.
Next Steps
The Board of Directors will review the output of the workshop and the next steps will be defined. If you are interested in learning more or participating in this initiative, please contact Paul Esch @ paul@tsanet.org
